Raising the Bar European CrossFit Masters 2012
This was the first Raising the Bar European CrossFit Masters gathering organised by Jane Holgate of Ladies Raising the Bar and her support team of Master CrossFitters Maz Glover and Tess McKenzie. Andy Edwards kindly offered to play host to the event at his gym Dragon CrossFit in Cardiff and took control as ‘Head Carer’ to the Masters.
People travelled from great lengths as far as Stockholm in Sweden to take part in this EPIC competition which brought together competitors between the ages of 40 and 62 to battle in out for the crown. This competition stood out amongst other we have attended as it really captured the spirit of CrossFit – there were no individuals, all were as one, distant friends became closer and there was an overwhelming show of support from both competitors and spectators alike.
Inspirational was the word that we took away from this event as we can only hope that by the time we hit 40, we are capable of what everyone achieved. There was a fantastic show of strength and fitness capacity in all age categories, with people setting new PB’s all around. We didn’t know which way to turn with cheers coming from all directions through the qualifying WODs.
For sure, this will be the first of many successful Raising the Bar European CrossFit Masters competitions to come and we’ll most definitely be there to show our support! As Lawraine Wood says; Get off the couch and get down there!’

Jamie is a professional Graphic Designer from the Preston area in the UK. He has been CrossFitting since 2010 after being hooked since his first workout. The sport has seen him travel through Europe with different athletes visiting even more boxes and meeting fascinating people from the community. I'm a self confessed adrenalin junkie who like to go high, go hard and go fast. A particular love of mine is skiing (freestyle / freeride) and if I could spend my days living in a shack on the side of a snow covered mountain I would. I am part of the team that created BOXROXmedia, so if you have any questions, ideas or feedback regarding our services, let me know!
