What is the rotator cuff? @AshleyKayArt painted 2 of the 4 rotator cuff muscles (#Infraspinatus and #TeresMinor) that are located on the back of the shoulder. This is a common place for shoulder pain that can also result in a “referred pain” down the arm. We will post another video in 3 hours that will show you how to massage this muscle (using a lacrosse, tennis, or golf ball) to help relief pain associated with this muscle. . . If you have pain in the shoulder or a burning pain down into the bicep, it could be coming from these two muscles. Generally, you know this muscle is pissed off when you rotate the arm outward with resistance. If you feel pain in the back of the shoulder when doing overhead movements, reverse flys, snatches, cleans, jerks, etc, it is an indication that these 2 rotator cuff muscles could be tight, spasming, and knotted up and they are probably weak! Massaging them and then strengthening them (with yesterday’s exercise or some others that we will be posting) will help to relieve that pain over time and reduce any referred pain down the arm. . . Check for our next post in a few hours to learn how to massage this muscle. . . 🎨 by @AshleyKayArt 📹 by @theautomaker 💻Written by Andrew Dettelbach @MoveUShirtlessDude 🤪 ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ 🌐Want more help from us? Muscles from the shoulder region

In addition to the four muscles of the rotator cuff, the deltoid muscle and teres major muscles arise and exist in the shoulder region itself. The deltoid muscle covers the shoulder joint on three sides, arising from the front upper third of the clavicle, the acromion, and the spine of the scapula, and travelling to insert on the deltoid tubercle of the humerus.

Contraction of each part of the deltoid assists in different movements of the shoulder – flexion (clavicular part), abduction (middle part) and extension (scapular part).

The teres major attaches to the outer part of the back of the scapula, beneath the teres minor, and attaches to the upper part of the humerus. It helps with medial rotation of the humerus.
