About the event
Two day seminar run by Recession Proof Body (London) and MR Calisthenics (NYC) on the 25th & 26th of July at Crossfit 536 – Blackrock. Here is all the information you need on the information and action packed weekend;
Day 1 “Fundamentals & Building Blocks”
In the Fundamentals and Building Blocks Seminar participants will learn the correct approach to the basic body-weight movements (push ups, pull ups, dips) as well as a number of their variations. With each move participants will explore different ways of training with them as well as gaining strength and power through them. Challenging solo/group exercises will wrap up each instructional segment.
Participants will also explore more advanced exercises such as muscle ups and handstands. Each move will be demonstrated and broken down for learners at all levels. The day will end with The Real Park Experience, which will lead participants through a series of training routines that the coaches use to achieve their elite level of strength and endurance. A number of large and small group circuits and combinations will be led by the coaches exactly as if they were training with each other outside at NYC/London parks; plenty of surprises to ensue! Afterwards, the coaches will be available for a question and answer session.
Day 2 “Advanced Progressions & Routines”
Recession Proof Body & MR Calisthenics are known for their elite freestyle form of body-weight training and now you can learn how to train just like the guys! The Advanced Progressions & Routines Seminar will be broken into three sections: Techniques/Progressions/Variations, Real Park Experience, and Freestyle. There will also be a lunch break prior to the Real Park Experience.
With the Techniques/Progressions/Variations section participants will be given step by step instruction on how to correctly perform elite body-weight techniques such as the Front and Back Lever, Freestanding Handstand Push Ups, Handstands, Human Flag, Planche, One Arm Pull Ups and more! In addition, a number of progressions used to achieve and strengthen these moves will be taught.
Just like the “Fundamentals and Building Blocks” Seminar, this section will have a series of workouts used by the coaches and have the same rhythm and “extras” as if training in NYC or London. The routines and circuits performed here will be extremely intense and challenging and will include advanced moves from throughout the day.
Finally, the day will end with a freestyle session that everyone is encouraged to participate in. This creative forum of body-weight training requires strength, control, and creativity. Led by the coaches demonstrations, everyone will be encouraged to participate and add to the positive environment. Afterwards, the coaches will be available for a question and answer session.
The “Advanced Progressions & Routines” Seminar will be very challenging, both in content and in pace. It is recommended that those signing up for this day have a decent base and are capable of performing pull ups, dips, and push ups. All demonstrations will be broken down from the simplest of progressions, right through to the advanced progressions on how to finally achieve the advanced moves being taught so there is worry about being overwhelmed with what is being demonstrated.
We recommend that you sign up for both Saturday and Sunday where possible, there is plenty to gain from both, from learning the progressions on the Sunday to learning variations of basic exercises that you most likely haven’t come across before on the Saturday. Both Seminars as with every “Above The Bar’ Seminar will be coached in a relaxed and encouraging environment by some of the most highly respected and established body-weight trainers in the business.
