About the event

The German Throwdown will head into its third year of competition and will be another true test of fitness. It is an elite competitive fitness challenge open to every athlete around the world. It is a two stage competition starting with the qualification phase held from September 19th to October 2nd online. The top athletes will then qualify for the final in Mainz on November 5. & 6.

Following individual divisions will be offered with classification done automatically by year of birth:

Elite male/female (up to 34 years of age)
Master male/female (35 – 44 years of age)
Master+ male/female (over 45 years of age)

The German Throwdown 2016 will offer a PROFESSIONAL and SCALED category, however they are significantly different from each other. As the German Throwdown is an elite competition the focus is on the professional category. Professional athletes will perform several workouts over the whole weekend.

The community is very important to us and that is why we offer the scaled athletes to perform one workout under the eyes of all the spectators, live in the main arena of the German Throwdown.

The German Throwdown 2016 will have a team division. One team roster consists of 3 female and 3 male athletes. Workouts are done with 2 female and 2 male athletes, which leaves the extra female and extra male athlete to be substitutes. You will find all the details in the rule book. The teams will perform several workouts over the whole weekend.

Athletes who want to take part have to be capable of completing the workouts and meet the requirements of §1 of the terms and conditions policy. The terms and conditions and the data protection chart need to be accepted and the registration fee needs to be payed. Athletes will need the following equipment: Concept2 rowing machine with PM3, PM4 or PM5 monitor, Barbells with weights, Pull-Up bar, Jumprope.

WORKOUTS HAVE TO BE DONE WITH A JUDGE who is responsible for upholding standards, counting reps and keeping track of time limits. Scorecard has to be validated and signed by the judge and has to be sent to GTD-officials in case the organizer asks for it. It is not necessary for the Judge to be CrossFit certified. It is not mandatory to perform the workout at a CrossFit Affiliate.

IT IS MANDATORY TO FILM YOUR WORKOUT. The organizer has the right to ask for your video for whatever reason he wishes without needing to explain this reason. Once requested, the athlete has 48 HOURS TO SUBMIT THE VIDEO to the organizer. If you can not provide a video, your score will be erased.

THE ORGANIZER WILL GIVE SOME WILDCARDS TO SOME ATHLETES. Getting a Wildcard means that the athlete doesn’t have to go through the qualification, they will get an invitation to the finals without qualifying.
