About the event
The Pilgrim Challenge is back! Following the route of the North Downs Way National Trail, the Pilgrim Challenge Ultra is firmly established as one of our best loved multi-stage ultra races.
The North Downs Way was once trodden by pilgrims heading for Canterbury and travellers bound for Dover and the Continent. Today, the Pilgrim Challenge follows a glorious section of the ancient route, passing through countryside, picturesque villages and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Whether this is your first ultra of your hundredth, the stunning scenery of the North Downs will take your breath away and take you to new limits.
Our route, devised and full recced by Race Director Neil Thubron, takes you from Farnham to Merstham, Surrey on Day One, with he return leg on Day Two brining you back to the start. Overnight accommodation, evening meal and breakfast is included for two day participants and is available at a supplement for one day participants. You’ll stay at St Nicholas School hall, Merstham (RG1 3PU), with sleeping accommodation in a large hall and gym. A dedicated rest area, showers, dining area and large screen TV are all provided.
The Pilgrim Challenge has been classified as a qualifying event for those aiming for the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (two qualifying points avoided to finishers), and we’re delighted to announce that the UTMB veteran and Alpine trail-running expert Andy Mouncey will be joining us at St Nicholas School, Merstham on the Saturday evening to entertain and inspire you with his presentation “Ultra Running made Ultra Simple”.
