How did you come to CrossFit?

I was studying in England and  one of my friends asked me to try a workout and that was it. It hurt so much but I couldn’t get enough of it. Like a junkie needs their high, I needed the suck feeling.

Why did you open your own box?

I felt it was a great opportunity to introduce people to the concept of CrossFit and give them something. I figured that if it helped me, it could help others.

Why exactly should I join YOUR box? What makes it standout from others?

Every box is unique and they all have their great qualities. Here we have great coaches and a great environment. Our little old ladies train with our army boys and they kick ass!! It’s a super welcoming place and everyone is always there for a chat or to push you to the finish of a workout.

How does your member structure look like? (Number of members, Male/Female, Young/Old,  any competitive athletes?)

We’ve just gone past our second year and it’s still picking up nicely. On average we probably get between 50 – 60 people per week with new people always walking through the door. Ages range from 18 – 66 and there’s a nice split between males and females. We have a few athletes; some triathletes, rugby players, football players and a girl who is a BJJ European champion. It’s great to see all these people mix and match during sessions.

Do you have additional training possibilities (Yoga, Gymnastics etc.)?

We offer PrimalFlow on Saturday mornings. It’s a really great recovery session for those hardcore crossfitters and great for people looking to start moving.

Do you consult your members in nutrition questions?

We don’t consult but we do advise depending on what they want to achieve.

If I start as a beginner – how does my training in the first month look like?

I always advise that for the first month, a person starts off twice a week. Just to get their body used to the movements and the demand on the body. After that I just tell them to listen to their body and that their rest is just as important as their work.

Do you organize any internal or open competitions?

We’re about to organize an event which is open to anyone and will run as a league style format. There’ll be workouts for everyone and anyone to make it all inclusive. The whole idea is to get people moving and encourage them to participate, not scare them away by programming ultra complex workouts.

Do you have links to other boxes?

Being where we are, we get a lot of visitors from abroad. Through this, we’ve made links with boxes all over the place; Australia, usa and England are just a few countries to mention. I’m also still in contact with the guys and girls from the box where it all started for me CrossFit Plymouth, UK.

Can I drop in if I am passing your city? Who do I have to contact?

We love drop in at our BOX. Anyone is welcome. All you have to do is send us an email to let us know you’re coming. After that, our box is your box.
