HOW did you come to CrossFit?

A friend, sportscientist like us, told us about this “CrossFit thing” years ago and that she was sure we would love it.

WHY did you open your own box?

It was obvious. With CrossFit we’ve  just found what we looking for.. We used to train outdoors and in a typical gym. There was a huge interest in CrossFit the winter of 2011 it was too cold to train outdoors. And in the gym it was definitely not possible to do CrossFit. So we decided to open our own box and to give athletes a perfect surrounding to train.

Why exactly should I join YOUR box? What makes it standout from others?

Every box is unique in its members and training structure. First we’ve asked our Gladiators and Amazones about their needs and requirements. We have a good mix of people: young to old, excellent athletes to beginners. Our members love our community and the coaches. For us it is important the coaches always take a very close look at all the movements. We don’t let our athletes train by themselves. No matter if we “just” do a warmup, mobility session, technique training, and a WOD. Second- we don’t have a introduction classes like other boxes. We’ve decided to offer “Basic classes” for each CrossFit beginner. They stay in that class as long as necessary, so they have time to get stronger. That really works perfect for our members.

How does your member structure look like?

We have about 100 members, 2/3 men, age between 17 and 50, and 1/3 woman. We have athletes with a 50kg Max deadlift or with 200kg. Some (about 10%) regularly take part at competitions.

Do you have additional training possibilities (Yoga, Gymnastics etc.) ?

Yes! We have a great OLY Coach, he only teaches OLY and this is so helpful. He teaches us all Olympic weightlifting moves and techniques. In our OLY classes and in our special Fun Friday class- basics members meet the advanced athletes for Team WOD’s. That is fun!

Do you consult your members in nutrition questions?

Yes, we try a lot together. We did some Paleo challenges and we really like to go out together every Friday and eat Pizza and drink “Apfelwein”. We mostly heat healthy food but we don’t go crazy about nutrition. In our fridge you’ll always find something to eat. Chocolate and fruits are very important for your body and soul.

If I start as a beginner – how does my training in the first month look like?

First you come to our “Meet the box” class, every other Sunday, there you get a feel what CrossFit is all about and you get to know the coaches. If you decide to stay, you take part in our Basic classes as long as necessary. Then we decide together if you are ready to move on to our advanced or competition classes. It depends a lot on the individual’s needs and skills. How often and how intense would you like to train?

Do you organize any internal or open competitions?

We haven’t organized any so far but we always take part at the “Cry me a river challenge”. We do the CrossFit games opens and some team challenges.
