CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town has been announced as the first sanctioned event in Africa. The athlete that wins this event will earn their spot to The 2019 CrossFit Games.
CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town is an annual competition originally designed to find the fittest athletes in South Africa. Today, the event attracts athletes from across the African continent and has become a testing ground for athletes and teams prior to the Games. After an online qualifier, the final competition will be a three-day event in Cape Town in February 2019.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR TEAMS: We have added a 1 minute break between the 4x400m Relay and the 400m D-Ball Carry, meaning that the Carry will only start on minute 7 while the Relay still has a 6 minute Cap! Oh by the way, TEAMS this will be your Saturday morning WOD. "THE CONGA LINE 2018" – in M/M and F/F pairs, For Time: – 40 Over Head Squats (move forward 5m every 10 reps) – 30 Toes To Bar – 20 Bar Muscle Ups [Total time Cap: 9min] *Team can choose to either send out Men OR Women pairs first, as soon as they have cleared the "station" ahead the next pair can go. **What constitutes a station will be briefed on the day. ***Time finishes when last pair passes the finish line. Each event will continue to be independently run and feature its own distinctive culture, schedule and workout programming. This development of the CrossFit Games season reflects the enormous growth of CrossFit affiliates around the world.

As previously announced, CrossFit sanctioned events provide top men, women and team finishers with a direct path to the CrossFit Games. Going forward, teams are no longer required to share an affiliate or geographical location to qualify for the CrossFit Games team competition. CrossFit-sanctioned events are the only pathway for teams to compete in the CrossFit Games.

The CrossFit Games will return once more to Madison, Wisconsin, in the late summer of 2019. Participants in the individual Games competition will consist of: (1) national champions as determined by the CrossFit Open; (2) first-place, sanctioned-event winners; (3) the top 20 overall finishers in the CrossFit Open; (4) and four at-large athletes selected by CrossFit Inc.”¹
