10 Pacific, South & Californian Regional Athletes to Watch this Weekend

The Original Crossfit Region combines the open athletes from Northern and Southern California. The 2016 venue is in Del Mar, California.

3. Rasmus Wisbech Andersen

A European import from Denmark and former dirtbike rider, Rasmus started doing Crossfit in 2010 to get rid of some baby flab, and first competed in the European Region in 2013. He moved to California in September of the same year to go to language school and improve his Crossfit skills with CJ Martin. Originally planning to stay in San Diego for just a few months, he decided to stay when he was offered a spot at team Invictus in 2014.

His first appearance as an individual athlete came in the Cali division in 2015, and he is definitely a competitor to look out for.

2. Josh Bridges

Former Navy Seal, Josh took up Crossfit in 2005, making his first appearance at the Crossfit games in 2011, where he took a 2nd place overall.

Ever since this Rookie success story, he’s become one of the most popular faces in the sport, boasting three top ten finishes in the Games, and even launching his own training plans for soldiers, firemen and competitors, respectively.

After the controversial penalty reduced his phenomenal 16.4 score, we are quite curious how he’ll perform in thes Regional events.

1. Lauren Fisher

At only 22 years old, this San Diegan Regional Athlete has quite the extensive history in competitive sports. Having switched from competitive High School Basketball to competitive Crossfit at the tender age of 18, she has already competed multiple times and proven her impressive versatility, especially in 2014, where she finished ninth overall at the Games and also won the USA Weightlifting Junior National Championship (female 63 kg division).

After her success in the Games with the Invictus team in 2013 and 2015, we are looking forward to seeing another individual performance in 2016.
