NEW RECORD: Sara Sigmundsdottir becomes first Icelandic women to break the 200kg total!

With a 91 kg snatch and a 110 kg clean and jerk (- 69 kg category) Sara sets a new Icelandic record! Check out the determination on her face in this video of her lift.

“Yesterday I competed in the -69 kg category at the WOW Reykjavik Games Olympic Weight Lifting Championships and it went pretty well ? I became the first Icelandic woman to pass the 200 kg total by lifting a combined total of 201 kg and I also set new Icelandic records in both types of lifts. I clean and jerked 110 kg and snatched 91 kg. It´s been such a long time since I last competed at an Olympic weight lifting competition and this was sooooo fun. I´m definitely doing this again next year if I possibly can ?” Sara Sigmundsdottir

About The Author

Editor-In-Chief at BOXROX. I come from a background of rugby and weightlifting. Growing up in the English Lake District, I spent a great deal of time swimming in its stunning lakes and rivers. In 2015 my brothers and I became the first people to swim the 145km length of the River Eden, from source to mouth, in 9 days. We also swam the Corryvreckan whirlpool, the third largest in the world, and Crossfit is a huge part of my training for these events.
