So what is the best way to get strong abs and a six pack according to Cavaliere? Their appearance comes down to nutrition and training. If you are skinny and still don’t see your well-defined abs, you are not training them properly.
Like any other muscle in the body, the abs can be hypertrophied and grow with proper training stimulus. Apply progressive overload to your ab movements as you do for your chest exercises. Do weighted exercises, add more weight, do a variation that is harder to complete, do more reps, sets, keep your abs under a longer period of tension.
There are three ways to approach your training to understand the best way to get strong abs and a six pack:
- Tension overload – weighted exercises
- Eccentric overload – utilising a physioball, for example
- Metabolic stress – train your abs more frequently
