ROGELIO GAMBOA WORKS HIS NIGHT SHIFT BEFORE THE START OF THE SOUTH REGIONAL
Last year CrossFit Games athlete Rogelio Gamboa chose not to compete in order to take a year off in order to focus on his career as a firefighter. This year he is back! In the South Regional he finished in second place and won event 4. What is extraordinary is that he still completed his shift on thursday before he started the competition on friday. For this comitted individual, taking time off was no issue, and he still managed to smash the weekend in style. Awesome job Rogelio!
The men of final heat in Event 4, began with clearly strategic pace, making sure to secure every rep and stick to planned sets. Mitch Spjut, Roy Gamboa, Matt Morton, and Tyler Eggiman were the early frontrunners, but Brandon Luckett’s burpees changed the race to a battle between Gamboa and himself. Luckett was first to make the transition to lighter snatches first, by going unbroken. But @cfroygamboa stayed within striking distance and made a late push to take the Event 4 win (5:59). #SouthRegional • #CrossFitRegionals • #CrossFitGames 📷 @d__lam
