6 Athletes to Watch Out for at the CrossFit Latin America Regionals This Weekend

We are only one day away from The Latin America Regionals, the return of the event that was discontinued in 2014. This return, according to Dave Castro, is due to the huge number of subscriptions to participate in the 2017 Open!

This year, Brazil was the 3rd country in the world with the largest number of subscriptions at the CrossFit Games Open. Also, the second country in the world with the largest number of affiliates, only behind the United States.

So CrossFit is something we truly really love, even though we have never sent representatives in the top categories to the CF Games. But our chances now with the return of the Latin American Regional greatly enhanced.

We have selected 3 male and 3 female athletes who stand out and promise to enter the arena with all they got to secure a spot in the much-desired CrossFit Games. Our selection was based not only on their positions in the Open, but also from local competitions here in Brazil. The Open is one WOD per week, with plenty of time to recover e re test. At regionals, 6 brutal events take place in just three days!

Hence, to further analyze the athletes, we also included their places at our own Torneio CrossFit Brasil (Brazilian CrossFit Tournament), which is considered by many the toughest and most important CrossFit competition in Brazil.

The 2018 Reebok CossFit Games Latin America Regional features the fittest men, women and teams from Central America and South America. Only the top 40 men and women, 25 from South America and 15 from Central America, were invited to compete at the Latin America Regional.

Latin America Regional will send one from each division (Central America and South America). Only the best man and woman will be invited to compete at the CrossFit Games held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, Aug. 1-5.

ANITA PRAVATTI

“Heating the engines #roadtoregionals Thank you!”

She has won for four times the Brazilian CrossFit Tournament and, for the last couple of years, she was the best placed female athlete in the regionals. Last year was her best finish at 14th place. With a bad shoulder, she did not go as planned in event 1 ending in a bad 45th place. However, even with this issue, she was only 12 points away from Brenda Castro, the best female athlete in Latin America last year.

One could also remember that Brenda was disqualified in 2016 for not being able in event 6 to perform 7 deadlifts at 275 lbs. With the experience of 5 regionals and with the ability to stand long competitions, Anita Pravatti is a name to be reckoned.
