Megan Jacoby is starting a new chapter in her HYROX career as she works toward a return to the Elite 15. In her latest YouTube vlog, “The Road Back to Elite 15 Starts Here,” Jacoby gives an inside look at her new home gym in Cyprus, her updated training approach and the changes she has made following her recent injury setbacks.
With her first race of the 2026/27 season five weeks away, Jacoby is focused on rebuilding her fitness while keeping her health as the priority.
A New Goal and a New Training Approach
Jacoby is clear about what she wants from the new season: a place back in the Elite 15. However, after spending months away from competition, she knows the early races will be about getting back into the rhythm rather than immediately chasing peak performances.
“I realize that my first goal should actually be staying healthy,” Jacoby says. “That would be great. I think that’s goal one, priority one.”
Her preparation includes extensive rehabilitation and mobility work following her back surgery and knee problems. She currently completes in-person physiotherapy twice a week, bodywork twice a week and additional work on her own five to six times per week.
The focus extends beyond her knee, with Jacoby working on her back, hips, ankles and feet to improve movement and stability.
Training Harder While Spending Less Time
One of the biggest changes this season is her coaching setup. Jacoby has begun working with Tiago Lousa, the head coach at Pace Club, while her husband Benny has shifted more of his attention toward real estate.
Jacoby says the new programming has brought higher intensity with fewer training hours.
“Higher intensity, less hours, so that’s been nice,” she explains. “My strength has increased. So, my volume has changed. It’s a lot less, still around the 18-hour mark, but I feel super good here.”
Her first session in the new gym included sled pulls, pull-ups and SkiErg work before finishing with four rounds of 30 wall balls and 30-meter burpee broad jumps.
Building a HYROX Performance Center
The new Cyprus gym is designed as Jacoby’s personal HYROX Performance Center, equipped with the equipment she needs for training. She also plans to turn part of the space into a podcast studio and eventually invite other athletes to train and appear on the show.
For Jacoby, the gym represents more than a new training space. It is the starting point for documenting her attempt to return to the top level of HYROX.
“I believe in saying your goals out loud,” she says. “I believe in manifesting. I believe in speaking it.”
After everything she has experienced over the past two years, Jacoby is putting the goal out there again: return to the Elite 15, stay healthy and see where the new season takes her.
