Leaderboard Mix Up at WODAPALOOZA 2026

| Mar 17, 2026 / 2 min read

Due to recent events, the final leaderboard has been altered for WODAPALOOZA 2026.

An adjustment had to be made to Nick Mathew’s score for the event 26.3.

Over the weekend, it was discovered that during Thursday’s workout, Mathew unintentionally skipped the first 12 burpees in the third round, right after increasing the barbell weight to 115 pounds.

What the Leaderboard Showed on Friday

On Friday the standings had James Sprague in first place, followed by Ty Jenkins in second, Austin Hatfield in third, and Jonne Koski in fourth. At that point, Koski was only two points shy of overtaking Hatfield for a podium finish.

How the Issue Surfaced

The discrepancy seems to have been noticed when another competitor reviewed their own footage of event 26.3 and realized that Mathew transitioned directly from thrusters to power cleans in round three, accidently skipping the burpees.

Once this was confirmed, Mathew’s score was revised. That correction triggered a ripple effect across the leaderboard, shifting multiple athletes up in the rankings, including Jonne Koski.

By Sunday evening, the updated standings reflected Koski in third place and Hatfield in fourth.

Further updates on Monday

Additional changes were made again on Monday. Mathew dropped from 6th overall down to 8th. As a result, Max Krieg moved into 6th place, and Luka Đukić climbed to 7th.

On the podium, Hatfield and Koski are now tied for third. They will split the prize money accordingly, each receiving $15,000 (based on combining the $20,000 third-place prize and the $10,000 fourth-place prize).

Mathew’s Retry of 26.3

Mathew has already redone event 26.3 at his home gym, Tonka CrossFit, where he logged 261 reps. That performance currently ranks him 149th worldwide.

Despite the setback, he remains comfortably on track to qualify for the Quarterfinals.
