5 Best Moments from the HYROX Phoenix Major

| Feb 02, 2026 / 3 min read

The dust has settled from the HYROX Phoenix Major. A competitive field in every category made for exciting and memorable races throughout the entire event.

Let’s focus on a few highlights from all the action.

Sean Noble Destroys the Farmer’s Carry Workout Station

Noble set an incredible pace of 1:09 for the workout station, passing Roncevic, and remember, that’s with a 32kg kettlebell in each hand.

The athlete went on to qualify for the World Championships with a final time of 53:57.

Joanna Wietrzyk Wins Her Third HYROX Major Race…

There was a great deal of pressure going into the event for the Aussie athlete. However, she looked confident and focused throughout the entire race, battling with Lauren Weeks at the beginning but ultimately winning comfortably to secure her third Major win.

…Then Sets New World Records In Both of Her Races

After winning the Individual female division and setting a new world record, Joanna Wietrzyk teamed up with Jess Pettrow in the doubles and set another world record with a time of 53:21.

Not a bad weekend at all for her.

James Kelly Puts in a Massive Finish to Earn Second Place in Men’s Pro Division

Fellow Australian James Kelly put in an incredible display of guts and elite level fitness towards the end of the race. He fought his way into second place behind Alexander Roncevic and hung on until the line.

Check out his workout station splits below.

Hunter McIntyre and Jake Williamson Win Elite 15 Men’s Doubles, and Had A Good Laugh Whilst Doing So

The duo crossed the finish line in 48:35. Power Bottom and Bulk Poney finished only 5 seconds behind the world record, having unfortunately recorded 14 no reps on the wall balls.

Next time surely a world record is on the cards.

Jake also found the perfect way to recover when you need to wait for your HYROX partner to get their work done.

2024 CrossFit Games Winner James Sprague Completes the Race

Many top CrossFit athletes have crossed over into the HYROX space and participated in races. Mat Fraser, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, and James Newbury are all excellent examples.

In Phoenix, James Sprague took to the floor and finished in 1:03:38. Watch out for whenever he might next race because, in his own words the race was “So close besides those burpees😪”. In a further comment, he expanded upon his race, concluding that his time included a “two minute penalty plus an additional 50 seconds arguing with judges”.
