Slovenia athlete Alen Ploj has made the decision to withdraw from the Warsaw HYROX Major. He stated that it has been “One of the hardest, yet at the same time easiest—decisions I’ve ever had to make…”
His first child is due to be born, and he quite rightly doesn’t want to miss it. He wrote, “there’s nothing in this world more important to me than being there for the birth of my first child. That moment is once in a lifetime, and I refuse to miss it. So I chose family.”
Ploj was clearly feeling mentally and physically strong going into the race, “It’s hard because I know this was my last chance to qualify for the World Championship in Stockholm. Deep down, I believe I was capable of earning that spot. But sometimes life asks you to step back from your dreams to embrace something even bigger.”
If anything, this has only enhanced his motivation for the future, “this just fuels me even more for the next season. I’ll be back, hungrier, and with a whole new purpose.”
