CrossFit Open Live Announcements Are Back for the 2021 Season

CrossFit will bring back Live Open announcements for the 2021 season, the company announced last night.

For all three weeks of the 2021 CrossFit Open, each workout will be announced live from the CrossFit office in Scotts Valley, California.

The news was announced during the first episode of CrossFit’s new weekly show, Games Central. The series aims to cover current events in the CrossFit Games world.

“We are excited to bring you guys the announcements back live,” said General Manager of Sport, Dave Castro. “We are excited to give you guys a show and to deliver you some fun and exciting tests with a little twist.”

Live Open announcements are events where each CrossFit Open workout is announced for the first time, live. They usually feature at least two well-known athletes who learn about the workout on the spot and compete head to head.

For the 2019 and 2020 CrossFit Open, after CrossFit announced big changes to the season, the live announcements were managed by CrossFit Affiliates around the world. While this added diversity and new languages to the live announcements, the degrees of production varied greatly between events.

The 2021 Open kicks off on March 11, find out how to compete here.
