Tia-Clair Toomey will be in Albany this August, and she’s officially going for her eighth CrossFit Games title.

In a bold and tongue-in-cheek social media post, the seven-time champion shared a video of herself wearing a “Just Keep Running” shirt. But, the caption struck a reflective tone:

“I would like to take this time to thank you all. What a year, what a journey this has been.”

Many fans assumed a retirement announcement may be incoming, until she was reminded she only has 37 days to go. Responding that “This is going to hurt like a motherf….

“Chasing Eight. Albany, New York.”

Now, in a full YouTube video titled Am I Doing the CrossFit Games? Official Announcement, Toomey confirms it directly:

“This decision has been one of the hardest of my career… but I think if I never did it, I would definitely regret it.”

Most Decorated Athlete in Games History

She earned her 2025 Games spot by winning the Torian Pro earlier this season, a performance she described as “an incredible celebration,” one that reminded her of the joy of competition and sealed her decision to see the season through.

Though she initially planned to step back, she explained:

“It wasn’t the intention… but I had such an incredible time competing. I think it’s only fitting to go to the CrossFit Games.”

Preparation Mode: Strength, Not Just Sentiment

Despite training heavily for HYROX events this year, Toomey says she’s fully back in CrossFit mode.

“We’re really focusing on strength now… that hasn’t been a priority this season, but I’ll be ready for whatever test or challenge they throw at us.”

She also noted that she’s already been preparing for the known first event, Run, Row, Run and is confident in her ability to adapt.

Perspective, Pressure, and Presence

Toomey made it clear she’s not treating this like a guaranteed victory lap:

“Anyone can show up and win. It really comes down to who can execute on the weekend… it only takes one event to lose the Games.”

More than anything, she wants to walk off the floor proud of her performance, regardless of the outcome, and serve as a role model for others:

“I want to be an inspiration to the younger generation… living proof that if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve what you set your mind to.”

Chasing Eight. A Legacy in Motion

The 2025 CrossFit Games take place 1–3 August at MVP Arena in Albany, New York a first for the East Coast and a fresh setting for a season full of change. Now, with Toomey officially returning, the event takes on even greater significance.

No athlete has ever won eight individual CrossFit Games titles. If she succeeds, Toomey will set a new benchmark — not just in CrossFit, but across elite sport as a whole.

But for Tia, the goal isn’t just another trophy. It’s about execution, evolution, and walking off the floor with no regrets.

This August, all eyes will be on Albany — and on Toomey.
