The Open has officially ended and CrossFit has sent invites to the athletes who passed to the next phase on Monday night. Here are the Individual Quarterfinals floor plans revealed by the organisation and our guess at what workouts we will (probably) see.
Athletes who made it on the top 10% of their respective continent are eligible to compete at the next stage of the CrossFit season: the Quarterfinals. Like the Open, the Quarterfinals are an online competition with people competing to go through to the Semifinals.
As such, it is important to have everything prepared for the workouts once they are released later this week. Check out the Individual Quarterfinals Floor Plans CrossFit has revealed.

Individual Quarterfinals Floor Plans
We now know there will be 5 workouts for individuals competing at this year’s Quarterfinals. For each workout there will be a specific set of rules and equipment athletes must obey.
Which Workouts Will We See?
Contrary to the Open, the floor plans of the Individual Quarterfinals are more specific and leave small room for guesses of what the workouts will be. Check out a few guesses.
The stacked plates on the right side of the floor plan probably mean we will see deficit handstand push-ups against the wall.
The tape around the beginning of the exercise where could be a designated area for athletes to perform another exercise against the wall, however, it won’t be a wall walk as there is no tape indicating that. We assume it will be the traditional handstand push-up.
Lastly, we see a pair of dumbbells 5 feet away from the handstand push-up area. Almost any dumbbell movement could be seen here, but one that jumps to our head is the dumbbell thrusters. We would be surprised if CrossFit decides to put the devil press here.
Our guess: For Time
- Handstand push-up
- Dumbbell thrusters
- Deficit handstand push-up
There can only be one exercise when the GHD machine is present and that is the GHD sit-ups.
The 8 feet distance between the equipment gear is mind-boggling as there could be a bodyweight exercise demanded here from one side to the next or just an area to perform bodyweight exercises. If so, we guess it could be free-standing shoulder taps.
Finally, we see the rings so immediately we are thinking of ring muscle-ups.
Our guess: 3 Rounds For Time
- 50 GHD sit-ups
- 20 freestanding shoulder taps
- 8 ring muscle-ups
Weirdly there is no place where the athlete should start in this exercise. So, we assume the first exercise will have to do something with the rope climbing.
Right next to that we have the wall ball target meaning there will be wall ball shots.
Lastly, the 25 feet distance between tapes hints us we could see the handstand walk.
Our guess: AMRAP in 20 Minutes
- 2 rope climb
- 30 wall ball shots
- 50 feet handstand walk
There is only a rack for a barbell on the individual Quarterfinals floor plans of workout 4. So we definitely will see the workout featuring a single barbell.
Our guess: For Max Load
- 3 rep-max back squat
* Time frame: 15 minutes
The last of the individual quarterfinals floor plans shows us the athlete facing a barbell at the beginning of the exercise. We believe these could be deadlifts with a relatively lighter load.
For the next exercise, we can only assume there will be burpees box jump.
Lastly, we see the Concept2 Rower, a machine that was added after the original equipment list for the Quarterfinals was released.
Our guess: 5 Rounds For Time
- 10 deadlifts
- 35 burpee box-jump
- 1500-feet row
