Annie became the first famous of the Dottirs by being the first female CrossFit athlete to win the CrossFit Games twice.

She combines grit, determination and impressive strength. Her years of experience have paved the way for other Icelandic female athletes such as Katrin, Sara and Thuridur.  

AT THE BEGINNING OF HER CROSSFIT CAREER

Annie’s background is in gymnastics and athletics, in particular pole vault. Her first CrossFit Games appearance was in 2009 where she learnt how to snatch and muscle-up.

Katrin Davidsdottir was touted as the new Annie, and she delivered. 2x CrossFit Games champion, she is a force to be reckoned with in CrossFit!

She has developed significantly as an athlete, with her strong gymnastic background and competitive nature, she became unstoppable after working with Ben Bergeron to improve her mental game.

THURI HELGADOTTIR

Þuríður Erla Helgadóttir, Þurí, was born in Iceland, in 1991. As a child and teenager, she played football and then moved on to track and field, doing 400-800 m. sprints.

She started CrossFit in 2010 at CrossFit Sport, where she has trained since.

Along with competing and training, Þurí studies Physiotherpy at the University of Iceland and coaches classes at CrossFit Sport.

Her competitive CrossFit career started in 2011 she went with a team from CrossFit Sport to the European Regionals where they took 1st place and qualified for The CrossFit Games. Þurí then made her first trip to the Games!

SARA SIGMUNDSDOTTIR – DOTTIRS DEVELOPMENT

Sara can be considered the fan favourite of the Dottirs. She is a CrossFit icon and started the sport initially to get in shape and find a boyfriend.
