Sara Sigmundsdottir Confirmed at the 2021 Dubai CrossFit Championship

This will be Sara’s first competition since she ruptured her ACL in March.

Sara Sigmundsdottir is back! The Icelandic powerhouse is one of 10 athletes confirmed at the 2021 Dubai CrossFit Championship. This will be her first time competing since she ruptured her ACL in March.

Sara Sigmundsdottir will return to defend her title of champion of the Dubai CrossFit Championship in December. In 2020, due to the pandemic, the event was cancelled and in 2019 Sara Sigmundsdottir finished 1st with 967 points.

Although confirmed, Sara is still recovering from her ruptured ACL, and is hopeful that she will be able to compete at a high level.

“I asked the doctor in my first check up after surgery how optimistic I was if I would aim for the Dubai CrossFit Championship. [the] reply was = aim for it,” Sara wrote.

Sigmundsdottir also explained that she is being closely monitored by her coach and physiotherapist. “ I will not take any chances. Fingers crossed that I will be ready.”

“Your setback is the platform for your comeback.”-Anonymous
This has been my reminder everyday since I tore my ACL. How I function is that I always have to aim for something. I asked the doctor in my first check up after surgery how optimistic I was if I would aim for the Dubai CrossFit Championship. Tthe reply was = aim for it.
Today I am so thankful and happy to announce that I have accepted the invite.
