As with any muscle group, your abs will pop if you train them hard enough. That means you need to use progressive overload when training your core. Crunches and planks will not get the result you are looking for.

It is important to know that, however hard you train your abs, you must have a relatively low body fat percentage to be able to see them. These advanced core exercises might give you the strength you need in your core, but if you still cannot see your abs, you need to work on losing body fat.

1. Windmill With Lateral Bend
Although coach Klepacki did this exercise with a dumbbell and a kettlebell, you may use two dumbbells instead.
2. Renegade Row to Helicopter
The twisting of this movement will focus more on targeting your obliques.

Make sure to keep your spine straight at all times during this demanding exercise.
4. Barbell Floor Wiper
Another exercise that hits your obliques without neglecting your lower abs.
