Wenisch and Rončević Set New HYROX Pro Doubles World Record in London

Tim Wenisch and Alexander Rončević set a new Men’s Pro Doubles World Record at the HYROX European Championships in London with a time of 47:40.65.

The previous record of 48:31, held by Rich Ryan and Pelayo Menendez Fernandez, was beaten by more than 50 seconds.

Their time was also quicker than the current Men’s Open World Record of 47:57, showing the level of the performance.

Wenisch and Rončević were fast from the start and stayed consistent throughout. They moved efficiently through the stations and kept their pace all the way to the finish without any major drop off.

Tim Wenisch is a German Adidas athlete. Alexander Rončević is an Austrian Red Bull athlete.

Despite the scale of the result, Rončević was quick to put it into context.

“It’s always nice setting records and everything. You have seen yesterday records are going, records are coming. That’s the game we like to play. It’s a nice feeling having the best time, but the courses are different and Warsaw and Stockholm will be another game.”

With the HYROX World Championships in Stockholm and the next Elite 15 Major in Warsaw coming up, the focus has already shifted to what comes next rather than what has just been achieved.

“We are really happy to have grown with the sport and that we are still part of it. We’ll keep pushing the standards,” Rončević added.

For Wenisch, the result was about more than just the time.

“To be a European champion with Alex again means a lot to me. The race was fully fun and a world record is always nice. I mean an athlete from America tried pretty often to break the world record, we just needed one try to break the world record and we’re pretty happy to have it now,” he said with a smile. No doubt referencing everyone’s favourite HYROX rivalry between Wenisch and Hunter McIntyre.

The performance in London continues a trend of rapid progression in HYROX, particularly in the Pro Doubles division, where times are dropping quickly as the level of competition rises.

With major events still to come this season, this new mark may not stand for long. But for now, Wenisch and Rončević have set the benchmark and moved the standard forward once again.
