HYROX Launches Long-Term Youngstars Competition Worldwide

| May 11, 2026 / 3 min read

HYROX is officially investing in the future of fitness racing.

After successful pilot events earlier this year, HYROX Youngstars has now launched as a permanent global series designed specifically for athletes aged 8 to 15. The initiative adapts the standard HYROX format into youth-friendly races, creating an entry point for children to experience the sport in a fun and competitive environment.

The concept got off the ground in Amsterdam in January 2026, where over 1,590 young athletes took part in the inaugural event. Momentum continued in London in March, where participation grew to more than 1,800 competitors.

Built for Ages 8 to 15

HYROX Youngstars mirrors the adult race format, combining running with functional stations such as SkiErg, sled push, rowing, farmers carry, lunges, and wall balls. Each division is scaled according to age and physical development.

The goal is not simply to crown winners, but to introduce young athletes to structured fitness in an engaging setting.

According to HYROX, the series is designed to help participants “challenge yourself, grow stronger, and have an unforgettable time.”

Moritz Fürste, HYROX Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, described the launch as a major milestone for the sport.

“Seeing this now is incredible,” Fürste said in an interview shared by HYROX on Instagram. “It’s so important to us that if we can only play a tiny role in bringing boys and girls a little bit away from screens and a little bit more outside into the real world, doing sports, being athletic, then it’s a great job done.”

He added, “Boys and girls that are here today will be the elite racers from tomorrow.”

A Growing Global Schedule

The expansion is already underway, with events scheduled in Berlin, Maastricht, Salt Lake City, Oslo, Paris, Anaheim, Birmingham, Utrecht, and London.

With more than 1.5 million athletes participating in HYROX during the 2025 to 2026 season, Youngstars provides a clear pathway for the next generation to enter the sport.

What began as a community idea is now an official part of the HYROX ecosystem, and its global rollout suggests that youth racing will play an increasingly important role in the sport’s future.
