Rich Ryan has been working on the design of a new racing shoe for the past year, in a collaboration with independent backers. It’s called the AXIS Output, by AXIS Hybrid Racing.
Talking about it on his RMR Training podcast he pointed out that shoe companies had been trying to get into the Hyrox space from the outside with shoes that were…OK. AXIS Output, he pointed out, is developed from inside the community.
Answering my query on Saturday he wrote:
“The Output is a low-stack super shoe designed to give you the benefits of a performance running shoe without compromising stability in the stations.
It features a wider midfoot and forefoot platform for stability during lunges, wall balls, and Farmer’s carries, along with aggressive outsole lugs for optimal grip on sleds and burpees.”
Rich wore them in Salt Lake City last week as he won the Men’s Pro Doubles with Jack Driscoll.
The racing shoe will soft launch on Sunday after Hyrox Denver, at Arsenal Health in Arvada, where there will be an opportunity to try them out.
The hard launch is scheduled for early 2027, with further info in November.
