If you need all the information about when the events are on, and at what times (in your timezone), check out our 2016 Regionals Schedule for everything you need to know about how to watch the Regionals.

THE PACIFIC REGION

The Regionals Athletes come from an enormous geographical Area (Asia and Australasia!), and this Regional competition was the first one to kick off, taking place in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.

10. Kara Webb

Australia’s fittest female in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016, 26-year-old Kara performed spectacularly in the first two Regional events, defending her spot at the top so far. No wonder, seeing as her favorite exercise are snatches.

After perhaps one of the most impressive Open performances in 16.2, which she finished in 15 minutes (20 minute Time Cap!), we can expect a lot from this former swimmer and self-proclaimed clean eating foodie in the events to follow.

9. Khan Porter

Coming in 4th in the Seeds and ranking second after the first two Regional Events, this 28 year old Australian athlete also competes in US Grid.

He proves his sense of humor by openly boasting about his liberal approach to nutrition and uploading funny training videos, which extended his fan base to even the unlikely audience of women reading cosmopolitan magazine.

Check out this hilarious video of him dancing to Beyoncé and doing a 120 kg snatch, and you’ll know what helped him keep his cool in the Regional Events so far.

8. Kyle Frankenfeld

This Australian athlete narrowly missed qualification for the games at last year’s regionals and came in first in the open seeds this year.

Being a Rookie compared to other Regional athletes, he has received a lot of attention in the games so far (leading in the men’s leaderboard after 16.3, besting loads of well-known veterans) In the first two Pacific regional events, both involving his self-declared weakness, Snatching, he dropped to 23rd place, so we’re curious how the next few events will play out.

SOUTH REGION

Covering Latin America, the South Central and the Sout West of the US, this Regional is taking place in Dallas, Texas.

7. Alexis Johnson

Alexis is a MisFit Athlete originally from Detroit, who came to Texas for her PhD studies in Maths. She has a background in gymnastics, and beat her college eating disorder by focussing on nutrition for her Crossfit ambitions in 2013. With her first Regional appearance in 2014, she quickly improved and came in second in her Open in 2015, failing to qualify for the Games because of the pressure of being in such a strong Regional group.

The main problem back then was a sequence of snatches she missed completely, so we are very curious how she will manage them with a new confidence in her athletic abilities this year.

6. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet

This female Regional athlete isn’t one of the most famous athletes in the Crossfit scene for no reason:

Camille made her first appearance at the games in 2010, dominating the Canadian East Region in the following four years, and finally became the “fittest woman on earth” in 2014 by winning the games.

Originally a gymnast, picking up Crossfit has lead competitive Camille to make an attempt at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio. She is also a part time chemical engineering student, author, and publisher of her own competitive training plan, “Jacked Unicorn”.

Finish the other day with an easy triple at 195 woot woot! The face you make when bae is looking at your gains ? #workhard #beproud

5. Travis Williams

Another Texan from Misfit Crossfit, and perhaps one of the most impressive Crossfit Success stories around.

Travis started doing Crossfit in 2011, at almost 100 lbs overweight. He had his first appearance in competitive Crossfit in 2015, and we’re stoked to find out just how far his determination will get him this year.

4. Roy Gamboa

People who have been following Crossfit for some time may remember Roy’s impressive entrance to the Crossfit World in 2013: Finishing second in the South Central Open after less than a year of Crossfit, and without a coach or affiliate to back him. He qualified for the Games in 2013 and 2015, and came in fourth in this year’s South Central Region.

REGIONAL ATHLETES: CALIFORNIA

The Original Crossfit Region combines the open athletes from Northern and Southern California. The 2016 venue is in Del Mar, California.

3. Rasmus Wisbech Andersen

A European import from Denmark and former dirtbike rider, Rasmus started doing Crossfit in 2010 to get rid of some baby flab, and first competed in the European Region in 2013. He moved to California in September of the same year to go to language school and improve his Crossfit skills with CJ Martin. Originally planning to stay in San Diego for just a few months, he decided to stay when he was offered a spot at team Invictus in 2014.

His first appearance as an individual athlete came in the Cali division in 2015, and he is definitely a competitor to look out for.

2. Josh Bridges

Former Navy Seal, Josh took up Crossfit in 2005, making his first appearance at the Crossfit games in 2011, where he took a 2nd place overall.

Ever since this Rookie success story, he’s become one of the most popular faces in the sport, boasting three top ten finishes in the Games, and even launching his own training plans for soldiers, firemen and competitors, respectively.

After the controversial penalty reduced his phenomenal 16.4 score, we are quite curious how he’ll perform in thes Regional events.

1. Lauren Fisher

At only 22 years old, this San Diegan Regional Athlete has quite the extensive history in competitive sports. Having switched from competitive High School Basketball to competitive Crossfit at the tender age of 18, she has already competed multiple times and proven her impressive versatility, especially in 2014, where she finished ninth overall at the Games and also won the USA Weightlifting Junior National Championship (female 63 kg division).

After her success in the Games with the Invictus team in 2013 and 2015, we are looking forward to seeing another individual performance in 2016.
