Look at the men’s individual HYROX rankings and one name has been conspicuous by its absence. Alexander Roncevic won all three of the HYROX majors he contested last season before finishing 6th at the World Championships.
But that only left him with four qualifying races and needing a strong showing in a 5th race to be assured a spot at the first major of the 26/27 season in Hamburg.
Istanbul was that 5th race and Roncevic cruised to a win, earning 105 points that will see him join Dylan Scott at the top of the rankings.
Competition came from elite 15 athlete Xavier Dufour, who finished in 3rd, and Pablo Sanchez Santos, who finished 2nd in 55:53.
You can see from Roncevic’s running splits that his pacing was excellent, with very little variation from one run to the next.
