Hunter McIntyre Reveals How He is Training to Win the HYROX World Championships

Hunter McIntyre’s preparation for the HYROX World Championships is about applying pressure with purpose.

In his latest YouTube video, the multiple time HYROX World Champion shared one of his most demanding training days as he continues building toward Stockholm. The session combined high volume track work in the morning with a strength focused HYROX session later in the day.

“Tuesdays are moderate intensity, high volume days,” McIntyre explained.

The morning workout featured 16 repetitions of 400 meters with 100 meter floats between each effort. The goal was not all out speed, but efficient movement and controlled output over four miles of quality running.

A Two Session Approach

After the track session, McIntyre refueled and returned for an afternoon workout centered around his biggest focus this season: the sleds.

“I really want to see if I can go unbroken on those sleds.”

The second session included power cleans, sled pushes, sled pulls, burpees, and core work. Rather than trying to dominate every metric, McIntyre emphasized targeting the areas that matter most on race day.

“I’m taking all the energy I have and pouring it into a couple places rather than ten different spots.”

A Different Version of Himself

McIntyre noted that his approach this season differs from last year. He is carrying more muscle while maintaining his speed.

“I’m heavier, stronger, and faster than I was this time last year.”

That combination has already translated into results. In April, he won the Pro Men division at HYROX Miami with a time of 53:59, following strong performances in Phoenix and Las Vegas earlier in the year.

Training with Precision

One of the key lessons McIntyre shared was the importance of restraint.

“If you are the best in the world at something, you do just enough to be the best.”

He cautioned athletes against copying elite workouts without adjusting for their own level, noting that years of development cannot be rushed.

Eyes on Stockholm

With seven weeks to go until Worlds, McIntyre believes his running is dialed and his station work is improving.

The focus now is simple: sharpen strengths, manage fatigue, and arrive ready to contend for another world title.
