Kara Saunders Shares Health Update After COVID

She had to withdraw from the CrossFit Games after the first day.

Kara Saunders has shared a health update after catching COVID and having to withdraw from the CrossFit Games. She had to quarantine for two weeks in a hotel in Australia and is now back with her husband and daughter while training in her garage gym.

In Kara Saunder’s latest YouTube video, she explained how she is feeling and training after contracting COVID right before the CrossFit Games this year. “I probably feel better at this point in the season this year than I have in the past,” she says.

The explanation is simple: she has properly rested this time. “Normally I come back from overseas and I’m out doing stuff, but […] I’ve forced myself to take more time rest. So usually I feel a lot ‘unfitter’ than I do now.”

In the video, she explains how she felt before discovering she had COVID. When landing in the United States, she thought she had migraines and jet lag.

“The day before the Games when I did something high intensity, after having not rested with it, that’s when I was like ‘Oh, my lungs feel like they’re struggling,’” she says. Kara even went through the first day of competition in Madison, but after disappointing results, her husband, Matt Saunders, explained the Australian athlete contracted COVID at the plane coming to the United States.

”So the only recommendation I feel like I could give [to people who gets COVID] is to rest.”

Kara Saunders also shared a workout for you to try.
