The official Quarterfinals cutlines are in. CrossFit has announced which position in the CrossFit Open leaderboard an individual athlete must be in order to qualify to the Quarterfinals. The Open leaderboard was officially finalized on April 5th and, on that same day, CrossFit Inc. sent invites to those who qualified via e-mail.
The individual Quarterfinals is an online competition in which athletes will compete for a chance to advance to the Semifinals.
Overall, individual men and women in the top 10% on each continent are eligible to participate in the Quarterfinals. The ranking is based on the CrossFit Open leaderboard.
Continent | Women – cutline | Men – cutline |
Africa | 302nd place | 437th place |
Asia | 418th place | 828th place |
Europe | 2344th place | 3594th place |
North America | 6594th place | 7410th place |
Oceania | 898th place | 997th place |
South America | 474th place | 725th place |
The cutline includes the person at that specific rank. For example, an individual woman from Asia who finished in 418th place in that continent is eligible to participate in the Quarterfinals.
Note: your continent will be established based on your citizenship, not where you are currently living.
Quarterfinals Cutlines – Why Is It Important?
Quarterfinals are the second stage in the CrossFit season. It is the direct path to the CrossFit Games which will decide the Fittest On Earth.
When Will the Quarterfinals Happen?
The event takes place during the weekend, from April 8th until April 12th. Workouts will be announced shortly before the competition begins.
Is It Free to Compete in the Quarterfinals?
No. Those who agree to compete in the Quarterfinals must pay a U$50 registration fee.
The Cutlines Are For Equipment-Free, Scaled, or Foundations Athletes As Well?
The Quarterfinals are only eligible for athletes who competed and finished all workouts from the Open in the RX’d division.
Are Teenagers Eligible to Compete in the Quarterfinals?
Boys and girls who competed RX’d in the age group of 16-17 are eligible to compete in the Quarterfinals.
Younger athletes will not receive an invitation e-mail to the Quarterfinals, no matter how well that athlete was ranked in the 2021 CrossFit Open.
Are Athletes in the Master Division Eligible to Compete in the Quarterfinals?
Yes, if the athlete is in the age group of 35-54 years old and has completed the RX’d workout during the CrossFit Open. Older athletes are not eligible to participate in the Quarterfinals, but the top 10% will be eligible to compete in the Age-Group Online Qualifier based on their Open rank worldwide, instead of by continent.
“We will provide updates on that stage of the competition soon,” writes CrossFit.
Can Teenagers/Masters Compete in Both Quarterfinals and Age-Group Online Qualifier?
Yes. If the teenage/master athlete has received an invitation e-mail by CrossFit Inc. to compete in the Quarterfinals, the athlete is free to do so.
The advantage to compete in both Quarterfinals and Age Group Online Qualifier is an extra path to qualify to the CrossFit Games in July.
Note: the official CrossFit Open leaderboard already includes eligible teenagers and masters in the rank. Check here for the men’s rank, and here for the women’s.
