How to Scale CrossFit Open Workout 22.2

Mat Fraser has revealed the workout of the second week of the Open. Find out how to scale CrossFit Open workout 22.2 – scaled and foundations.

The Scaled option is designed for athletes with some CrossFit experience who are not yet ready for the Rx’d version, while foundations is thought for athletes new to CrossFit and anyone who might feel intimidated by the original workout.

The scaling above is the official guidelines for athletes aged between 16 and 54.

The original workout was:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time of:

  • Deadlifts
  • Bar-facing burpees

♀ 155 lb / ♂ 225 lb

Time cap: 10 minutes

How to Scale for Masters (Scaled Masters 55+)

All Master athletes up to the 50-54 age category should scale the workout with the option provided above. Master athletes age 55+ can scale the workout as follows:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time of:

  • Deadlifts
  • Bar-facing burpees

♀ 85 lb, may step over bar on burpees
♂ 115 lb, may step over bar on burpees

Time cap: 10 minutes

How to Scale for Teens (Scaled Teenagers 14-15)

Athletes between the ages of 14 and 15 can perform the following scaled version of workout 22.2.

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time of:

  • Deadlifts
  • Bar-facing burpees

♀ 55 lb, may step over bar on burpees
♂ 75 lb, may step over bar on burpees

The CrossFit Open

The 2022 CrossFit Open is an online fitness competition that unites the global CrossFit community. It marks the start of the 2022 CrossFit Games season and all athletes hoping to advance to further stages, such as the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and CrossFit Games, will begin their journey here.

NOW IN ITS 12TH YEAR, THE CROSSFIT OPEN HAS BECOME THE LARGEST PARTICIPATORY SPORTING EVENT IN THE WORLD.

The CrossFit Open kicked off on February 24 and will run until March 14. Workouts will be released weekly every Thursday at midday PT, with athletes having until the following Monday at 5 p.m. PT to complete the workout and submit their scores.
