CrossFit Open Workout 18.3 Live Announcement – Kyle Kasperbauer

On the 8th March, Kyle Kasperbauer will do battle against fellow Masters athlete Neal Maddox at the CrossFit Open Workout 18.3 live announcement.

Skyline CrossFit in Houston, Texas will host the event, and we will witness a fantastic demonstration of the skill, strength, speed and endurance of the CrossFit Masters. As usual, Dave Castro – Director of The CrossFit Games – will reveal the workout live on the night.

Kyle Kasperbauer is an American CrossFit athlete that competes in the Masters division. He is 35 years old and has been to the CrossFit Games six times, both as an individual and as part of a team. His team finished in second place at the 2010 Games. Last year he became the fittest man on earth in his age group.

Kyle started doing CrossFit in 2009 after a career in wrestling and American football. He started competing right away in a team, but changed to competing as an individual in 2012 and became the third fittest man in the world. Only three other men have been at the Games as many times as Kyle.

No one else has stood on the podium in three categories like he has, in a team, as an individual and as a master.

Kyle lives in Nebraska with his wife and children and coaches at CrossFit Kinesis. He was born and raised in Nebraska on a farm and studied Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine Athletic Training at the University of Nebraska.

At the beginning of the video Kyle says 17.5, but he was doing 17.3 as the name suggests.

Prior to 8 minutes, 3 rounds of:

  • 6 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 6 Squat Snatches (95/65 lb)

Then 3 rounds of:

  • 7 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 5 Squat Snatches (135/95 lb)

* Prior to 12 minutes, 3 rounds of:

  • 8 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 4 Squat Snatches (185/135 lb)

* Prior to 16 minutes, 3 rounds of:

  • 9 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 3 Squat Snatches (225/155 lb)

* Prior to 20 minutes, 3 rounds of:

  • 10 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 2 Squat Snatches (245/175 lb)

* Prior to 24 minutes, 3 rounds of:

  • 11 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 1 Squat Snatch (265/185 lb)

* If all reps are completed, time cap extends by 4 minutes.

When it comes CrossFit Open Workout 18.3, Kyle will go in confident, as he is an exceptionally well rounded athlete with a wealth of experience competing at the highest levels in the sport of fitness.

When you qualify for the masters division the rules change slightly. You don’t compete at Regionals, but submit your qualifying workout score in the same format as The CrossFit Open.
