Swedish Games Athlete Responds to Having his Score Cut for 20.2

Simon Mantyla is a 2x Crossfit Games Athlete and finished in 45th place this year in Madison. During the current Open, he finished in 9th place for 20.1, with an impressive time of 8:31. 20.2 however, did not go as planned:

“Today’s feeling. Got a major penalty on 20.2.”

“I take great pride in moving according to standards. I rarely get no-reps in competitions. But as much as I feel that the decision is wrong, that I want to appeal, that other athletes reps look even worse, that I have been wronged etc. It won’t change anything. All I can say is that the system is a little bit inconsistent.”

“I will finish the OPEN because I am not a quitter that makes excuses and after that I will start to prepare for sanctionals. First stop @norwegiancrossfitchampionship Thank you to everyone who believes in me ❤️?? and good luck to the people still in contention for a spot.”
