How Did Bruce Lee Workout?

Can you keep up with his training thinking?

He is one of the most famous martial artists of all time. Check out the Bruce Lee workout.

Jeff Cavaliere was the head physical therapist of the New York Mets for 3 years and is now a YouTube sensation. He delivers clear information without noise on his ATHLEAN-X YouTube channel.

Cavaliere says Bruce Lee was one of the biggest athletes of all time because he had strength, power, agility and quickness, and not only one of those characteristics.

So if you want to see how the legend trained, check out the Bruce Lee workout below.

It is important to note that there is not one single workout that he is famous for doing because, as Jeff says, “it’s all shrouded in mystery.”

Bruce Lee Workout

Tension For Your Advantage

In weight training, you want to keep your muscles under tension when performing any exercise. For example, when doing a push-up, don’t just focus on pushing your upper body up and down. Contract your abs, glutes and even legs if you can.

Bruce Lee was famous for doing push-ups with one or two fingers by channelling his tension from toes all the way to his fingers and keeping a steady body.

Connect Mind with Muscle

Right after doing push-ups, you should engage not just the chest, but your entire upper body. Cavaliere exemplifies something that was a staple on Bruce Lee workout: the contraction.

After push-ups, for example, you should stand up and contract your entire upper body to the maximum. “In this drill I’m engaging chest, triceps, shoulders, isometrically,” Cavaliere explains, reinforcing your control over your muscles and creating and strengthening the mind over muscle connection.

Lift What You Can

Train to Failure How to Get a Stronger Lower Back

Bruce Lee said “never lift a weight you actually can’t lift.” You can perform the barbell lunge curl, in which you curl a barbell and then, at the top of the movement, extend your arms forward.

Bruce Lee workout idea was that he was in control of every single thing his body did.

Daily Ab Workout

Bruce Lee’s abs looked indestructible. “The core is literally at the core of everything you do,” Cavaliere says. Frequent ab training is important.

The dragon flag is one of the hardest ab exercises possible and a staple at Bruce Lee workout.

As always, control everything your body is doing and prevent your lower back from going overextended.

Recovery Is Important

Getting away from the gym is sometimes the best thing for your muscles because that is when your muscles are growing.

Make sure you are sleeping well, hydrating properly with proper nutrition and resting fully. Bruce Lee also had proper protein supplementation to fuel his muscles.
